Minimum Qualifications

These are the basic skills and knowledge you need to keep you and your work crew safe on the jobsite. They do not take five years of studying to acquire. You do not have to pay $50,000 to get them. We’ll give you all the training and help you need to pass them. In just a few short weeks, you’ll be ready to join the team.

Current Opportunities

We recruit all levels of experience on deployments across western Canada. If you don’t live locally, that’s not a problem. We provide accommodation for remote operations. Live in the city, work in the wild. It’s the best of both worlds.

STRAIT Pipeline and Facility Construction and Maintenance

Position Summary:

STRAIT is currently recruiting an experienced and ticketed Coating QC Inspection Supervisor for shop work based out of our Grande Prairie, AB Coating Group. Possibility of some field work, if required.

Qualifications

  • NACE Level 2 (will consider NACE 1 with experience)
  • Fall Arrest
  • Standard First Aid
  • H2S Alive
  • Common Safety Orientation
  • PCST or CSTS
  • Class 5 Drivers License 
 

Required Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience as an Inspector and Supervisor in an industrial coating environment.
  • Experience in client spec review and ITP development.
  • Must be able to perform inspections as required and work as a liaison with client representative.
  • Computer experience is mandatory.
  • Clean Class 5 license to operate a company vehicle is mandatory for this position.

Position Summary:

STRAIT is looking for experienced Labourers and Welder Helpers for project based Pipeline and Facility work throughout Western Canada.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices
  • Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them
  • Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
  • Remove debris at construction sites
  • Assist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during oil and gas pipeline construction
  • Fuel equipment when needed
  • Clean construction work areas
  • Assist Welder in providing required materials and tools
  • Assist in the preparation of material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder
  • Set material in stands, racks, hoists, etc. for welding
  • Set up equipment and weld parts
  • Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other materials from surfaces of metal products
  • Complete tasks directed by the supervisor

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 1 year+ within pipeline and facility construction
  • Safety Certifications required: Standard First Aid, Enform H2S, CSTS or PCST and ACGA Endorsed Ground Disturbance Supervisory or Level II
  • Safe and positive attitude

  • Develop project QC deliverables 
  • Verify Project personnel qualifications
  • Ensure project Inspection test plans are understood and followed by project staff
  • Conduct quality checks to verify and record data
  • Verify project material
  • Record all project NCR/PAR/CAR’s
  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to project ITP’s
  • Compile project turn over packages
  • Ensure client progressive sign off
  • Liaison with client inspectors
  • Report to QC Supervisor.
